Official Rules for BAFAB's First Anniversary Contest


From July 1st to July 6th, 2006 a new puzzle will be unveiled at one of the literary sites helping out with BAFAB's First Anniversary Contest. For a complete list of participating sites, go to the BAFAB site.

Each puzzle will be of a different type--starting on day one with a crossword puzzle. Each of the day's puzzles will provide participants with a single clue to a Final Question, though what that clue is will probably not be evident until day seven of the contest. On that final day participants must show up at the BAFAB site, where they will find a link to the seventh and final piece of the puzzle. Participants will need to have their results from each of the six puzzles on the seventh day. Thus, contestants will be reminded with each puzzle to save their work for the final stage of the contest.

After they are initially announced, all six puzzles will remain available for the duration of the contest. Thus contestants who learn of the puzzle later in the week will not be barred from participating.

On the final day of the contest participants will be asked to identify the clues gleaned from each of the six completed puzzles and to answer a Final Question. Answers must be submitted via the form provided on the site. Participants are free to use Google or any other means to research their answer to the Final Question.

Contest entries must be received by 10:00 AM EDT July 8th, 2006. (One entry only per individual.) Three winners will be selected by random drawing from all the correct contest entries received. (All questions asked on the final day must be answered correctly.) The drawing will be held on July 8th, 2006. The winners will be notified by email on July 8th and the contest results made public shortly thereafter.

If no completely correct entries are received, partially incorrect responses will be admitted to the drawing provided that the Final Question is answered correctly and at least four of the six clues from the daily puzzles are properly identified.
